Florida Atlantic University is located right off of I-95 on Glades Road. For many incoming college students it may be difficult trying to get to know the city and explore fun things to do in the area.
This list of things to do off-campus nearby are following the COVID Safety and Health guidelines. When you visit these places, please be sure to wear your mask, practice social distancing, and of course use hand sanitizer. You can visit these places with a group of friends or by yourself!
Mizner Park
Mizner is filled with clothing stores, restaurants, bars, art, and small food and beverage places. It’s a nice place to walk around and sightsee or even window shop. Mizner is beautiful at all hours of the day but I would personally recommend going right before golden hour (5PM).

Town Center at Boca Raton
This shopping mall mainly consists of high-end luxury stores, but there are a few “college-budget-friendly” places to shop. Also, this mall has good food and snack options from Wetzels Pretzles to Mandarin Express. This mall is a nice place to go window shopping, hang with friends, and eat.

South Beach Park, Boca Raton
This is the beach that FAU coins as only being 3.8 miles away. I highly recommend this beach because it’s very close to campus and has an ice cream parlor, smoothie place, and small restaurants within walking distance of the beach.

Atlantic Avenue “The Ave” (Delray Beach)
The Ave is very similar to Miami Beach: busy roads, large crowds, and many entertainment, food, and bar options. If you are of age, this is “the spot” to drink and have a good time.

Local Event Parties- Invite Brunch Only, Taco Tuesday, and 3 Kings Brunch & Day Party (Visit Eventbrite.com for more)
I must say that as a college student, these have been the best parties to attend. Most of these events have venues with food but the main attraction is the party. The DJs you always want to look out for are DJ Redwood, DJ Keem, and DJ Jazzy Jeff. They throw some of the best parties in the Tricounty area!

Cinemark Palace 20 and XD
The best day to go to this movie theater is on Tuesday because tickets are only $6. The seats are very comfortable and the service and concessions are pretty good. This is a nice place to watch a movie with friends or alone!

Boomers
A few minutes away from Cinemark Palace lies a world of fun. Boomers has different arcade games, mini golf, bumper cars, and more! This is something you can do for you or your friend’s birthday, a game night, or any other reason in the world to go out and have fun.

Boca Raton Museum of Art
Right on the outskirts of Mizner Park lies this beautiful art museum. Students get in free with your student I.D and everyone else has to pay $5. This two-story museum is filled with art from African-American artists to European artists. Their displays and sculptures feed your mind to your own interpretation. If you visit Boca Raton Museum of Art alone, be ready to really dive into your inner self and expand your mind. If you come with a group of friends, get ready to be open to different interpretations and ideas from the ones around you.

Volunteer
Boca Raton has plenty of opportunities for you to get involved with the community. If you find it difficult to serve on your own, join a registered student organization! These RSOs partake in community service at least once or twice a semester. Some orgs such as Progressive Black Men Incorporated serve their communities about four to five times a month! Some volunteer opportunities include Boca Helping Hands, Habitat for Humanity, Propel, events in Pearl City, Boys & Girls Club, and Caregiving Youth.
